“It’s the international scene that provides me with challenges that are irreplicable in the domestic sphere. It causes me to live outside of my comfort zone, and it is there I am fully alive. From meeting new people to navigating unfamiliar places, it all culminates to bring about a newfound maturity and an appreciation for life.

Learning foreign language is my favorite aspect of international travel, because as anyone who has ever studied a foreign language knows, it is the opportunity to use it within its own context that is the most conducive to picking up the language quickly, along with understanding its usage outside of an academic setting.

The reward follows the work, for in the end I gain not only another perspective on the world through a different linguistic lens, but I achieve what was formerly impossible — the connection with people through verbal conversation. Nothing is more rewarding than having successfully communicated with the natives of a particular country. It is in those moments I feel like a true Global Citizen who has a global family.”
